The two main anchors in Galway Gateway development have opened to the public.  The scheme, which is well underway is 100% let to international retailers with further completions coming up in Spring 2008.

TJ O’Mahony wins Energy Retailer of the Year at the 2010 Irish Hardware Awards.

TJ O’Mahony, Ballymount Cross, Walkinstown, has won the first annual Energy Retailer of the Year award having been selected by an independent panel of judges for Irish Hardware magazine.

The Awards were held in the Shelbourne Hotel, Dublin on the 8th June 2010.

Wickes DIY chain creates first of 450 new jobs with Limerick store opening

40 new jobs were created in Limerick today when the Wickes DIY and Home Improvement chain opened the first of 15 stores in Ireland.  An additional 410 people will be hired over the coming five years as the chain expands its operations across Ireland.

MORITZ TAKES ON HEAVYWEIGHT STATUS WITH €20 MILLION ACQUISITION OF C&D BUILDERS PROVIDERS .

Moritz Trading Limited has strengthened its position as one of Ireland’s leading builders’ providers and retail DIY suppliers by acquiring C&D Builders Providers in Wexford in a deal reported to be worth in excess of €20 million.

C&D Builders Providers is one of the leading suppliers of building materials, timber, DIY and garden products in the South-East region with an annual turnover in the region of €30 million. It has been operating since 1976 and currently employs 110 staff with two stores in Wexford town and one in Arklow.

Adamstown SDZ Wins Planning Award in London

 ·       Only Non-UK Project to Receive Royal Town Planning Institute’s 2009 Planning Award
·       Development of new town continues in 2009

9th February 2009: Adamstown - Ireland’s first 21st century town, has been honoured at the Royal Town Planning Institute’s (RTPI) Annual Awards ceremony in the London Hilton Hotel.  The emerging new town, Ireland’s first designated Strategic Development Zone (SDZ), won the RTPI’s 2009 Award in the Sustainable Communities category. The award was sponsored by The Crown Estate.  Adamstown was the only non-UK project honoured at the awards.

Adamstown’s entry to the RTPI Awards was a joint submission between South Dublin County Council and Chartridge, the developers of Adamstown incorporating Castlethorn Construction, Maplewood Homes and Tierra Construction.

The RTPI’s Sustainable Communities award recognises the creation of sustainable, mixed use, developments in rural or urban contexts which balance and integrate the social, economic, environmental and resource needs of the community.

The Judges Panel was chaired by Chris Shepley CBE, formerly chief planning inspector for England and Wales and RTPI president in 1989.  In their citation, the Judges said regarding the success of Adamstown that “the first theme to emerge is that major projects can be delivered on time and quickly through the planning process. Never let it be said that the planning system cannot deliver big projects in a reasonable time and to a high standard”.

The Judges praised the design and layout of Adamstown in delivering a “modern vernacular” incorporating the key features of a sustainable community. They went on to say “we were impressed by the quality and scale of development at Adamstown... more
